December 08, 2016, Internet Governance Forum – Mexico: Restrictions on the freedom of expression in the context of religion are eroding the space for democratic discussions including academic and legal discourse in Asia, Reveals ‘Desecrating Expression: An Account of Freedom of Expression and Religion in Asia’ a study by Bytes for all, Pakistan and FORUM-ASIA.

Key findings of the study refute the common perception that these restrictions are prevalent in Islamic countries, only. As, these violations are also prevailing in countries such as India, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.

Islamabad, May 09, 2014: The Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA), together with its 47 member organisations from Bangladesh, Burma, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Timor Leste, strongly condemn the killing of Mr. Rashid Rehman, a prominent human rights defender and lawyer in Pakistan and the Multan Task Force  Coordinator of FORUM-ASIA’s member organisation in Pakistan, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP).
